Isle of Dreams

Cast Testimony - Jeremy Walker - the role of 'Jesus Christ'

Jeremy Walker as 'Jesus Christ'

Every Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night, I was made to go to church. My father, an ordained minister, made sure we were active in our church. My mother always had us helping with vacation Bible school, dramas, musicals and anything else that came along. I gave my life to Christ on May 16, 1984, but while in college I turned my back on God, my commitment and all of the things I had learned growing up in the church. I became sexually active at the age of twenty, and gave myself to those pleasures of the flesh. A few years later, God grabbed my attention again and I began to heavily serve the Lord in my local church in the youth ministry, even going to Brasil on a mission’s trip.

In November of 2001, I went to a performance of “The Isle of Dreams” at my church and met Michael O’Hara. He was preparing the stage for the upcoming performance and came over and briefly talked with me. Somehow, he immediately discerned that I was a singer and asked me to come to his home and audition. I sang “It Is Well With My Soul”, and after having me sing on the phone long distance for Robert White Johnson, they allowed me in the cast. Over the course of several years and after playing several roles in "Isle", I was awarded the role of “Jesus Christ”.

Eventually, the Lord blessed me with my wonderful wife, Lisa, and I continue to lift up His mighty name. “Isle" has blessed my life more than words can say, and I fight to continue to deserve the riches of our Father. Sometimes the idea of playing the role of the Savior of the World can become overwhelming and I have to take a step back and realize that,as a child of God, I am called to live a life everyday that reflects Christ. With that approach to ministry and life, I believe we all can directly impact the lives of those around us and, through the mercy and grace of our Lord, we can share in bringing souls into the Kingdom of God.
