Isle of Dreams

I have made many mistakes in my life. I have lived in two different countries in the world. Originally, I come from “Suriname“, formerly, “Dutch Guyana”, where we had very little growing up. I come from an extremely spiritual background, complete with religious practices that boarder on white magic by my aunt and mother, that had been handed down from generations, including my grandmother. This was accepted practice where I come from. However, moving to America with my husband after only three months of marriage in 88‘, I had already broken away from such practices with my sister in Suriname, by secretly being baptized in the Christian fashion.

You see, and this is hard for me to tell,.. I was raped by my youth minister at the age of fifteen. It caused me to tailspin into all sorts of promiscuity for years. I did give my life to the Lord by age eighteen, but didn’t fully “give over” until I was nineteen. In America, I joined and served at “Victory Outreach Ministries” in St. Louis for ten years, before moving our membership to “Jubilee Worship Center” under the leadership of “Pastor Aubrey Kishna”. I served faithfully for years and miscarried twice in one year. I was under the most horrific and intense depression because of it. God has blessed me with two beautiful children, but I wonder if people really knows what it means to loose a child? Let alone, two?

One Sunday, the Lord sent Michael to our church to sing for his cousin’s husband, who would be preaching the morning sermon. Being a part of the “praise team”, I was called upon to sing a solo. Michael gave me his number, and I gave him mine. He asked me to come to a rehearsal with my husband, and after singing before the entire cast, he asked me to join. I sang for Robert over the phone, and he agreed that I should be given the role of “The Woman With the Issue of Blood”. They didn’t know until much later that I had been bleeding for two years like the character in the bible, and that God had healed me miraculously through His amazing power! I can play this role because I have lived it! I can lift His name because He has saved and healed me! Can you say the same?
