Cast Testimony - Ruth Latchison Nichols - the role of 'Witness for the Lord'

Ruth Latchison-Nichols as 'The Angel of the Lord'

Born in St. Louis to a strictly disciplined Christian home, I excelled in my school studies, but was literally “whipped” into the service of the Lord. I was a virgin until I was fifteen, and the subject of sex was never discussed in our home. Then one day my entire world was turned upside down. I was the victim of a vicious gang rape at the age of fifteen. The happy-go-lucky teenager was gone forever. In her place was a wounded animal of a person who did so many things to blot out the pain.

I was an intravenous drug user of heroin, cocaine, and “tees and blues”, the leader of two of the most dangerous gangs in St. Louis, but my mother never gave up on me. She proclaimed that God would save and restore me, and bring me into the highest service for His kingdom some day. Her prayers were answered, and I have been clean and sober and an evangelist for more than twenty three years. I have allowed the Lord to use me all over the country, even recently being invited to lecture at “Duke University”.

I have traveled in national gospel plays such as “Be Careful What You Pray For”, as well as playing the title role of “Mahalia” in “I Believe I’ll Testify”, to mention a few. Having grown up with one of the writers of “Isle”, Michael O’Hara, I was guest soloing at “Powell Symphony Hall, and he came strictly to find me and offer me the role of “Witness For The Lord”, in he and Robert Johnson’s production. As I am known throughout the country as a “witness”, this role is well suited to me. And,… I am determined to be a witness for our lord for the rest of my life!
