Isle of Dreams

Cast Testimony -Yvette Loveless, portrayed Elizabeth

Cornell Thomas as 'Judas Iscariot'

I prayed about becoming a member of the Isle of Dreams and when I realized that to be a member you had to prepare a testimony of where God has brought you from, I wrote something that I felt would be not only an inspiration to others, but would remind me of where God had brought me from.

I was a P.K. (preacher’s kid), the late Rev. Archie Blaine was my father and he taught me the ways of Christ.  And if anyone knew right from wrong, it would be me…but being a rebellious kid and wanting to do the things of the world, I got into things that would ONLY be a testimony later.  I not only smoked weed, but attempted to sell drugs, which is difficult, when you are a “user”.  So I was constantly having to pay for my use….I also got pregnant and wasn’t married.  Being a single mother was really a challenge of attempting to go to school at night to get my degree and work during the day.  Raising a son was really trying, but my family was very instrumental in watching him, so that I could better myself and complete my education.  Without God and my family, I would not have been able to make it through.  I thought since I was almost thirty when I got pregnant it was okay, when I realized it was still classified as fornication.  Being raped at a young age, was also a hurdle I had to get through.  I want to encourage girls who fear their cousins, uncles, and grandfathers that God is still in the blessing business to heal those of us that have lived through sexual abuse.  You never forget the ordeal; I don’t care how old you get. It is only through God's love and help that we are able to get through each day with the horrible memories.

Soon I began to realize that without God, I was never going to make the right decisions.  I soon joined the Missionary Baptist Church, where I re-dedicated my life to God.  He blessed me in so many ways….not only sending me a “saved husband” James Loveless, who portrays Jesus in the Isle of Dreams, but helped me to be a Christian influence to my son, Andre’.  There still were a few things I needed God to heal and that was my smoking habit….One evening in Isle rehearsal, Rev. Michael O’Hara laid hands on me and in a very rich voice said, “Be Gone!” and from then on, I have not taken one puff from a cigarette!  That was in 2004 and now that I am free, I can minister to other’s who have a cigarette and marijuana addictions.
